- Tick exposure: history of tick bites or time spent in tick-endemic areas.
- Fatigue: persistent low energy of unclear origin.
- Joint or muscle discomfort: recurring aches or stiffness.
- Neurological concerns: headaches, concentration changes or heightened sensitivity.
- Temperature fluctuations: intermittent warm spells or chills.
- Skin changes: unusual rashes or marks following outdoor exposure.
- Immune review: exploring antibody patterns alongside cellular immune tests.
- Overlapping symptoms: clients reporting multi-system discomfort without clear explanation.
- Post-exposure curiosity: wanting to evaluate antibody patterns after time outdoors.
Overview
The Borrelia IgG and IgM SeraSpot test assesses antibody responses to several Borrelia antigens using a microarray-based platform. Microarray technology allows several antigens to be measured at the same time within a single assay, providing a broad view of IgG and IgM patterns to markers such as VlsE, p39, p58, p100, OspC and DbpA from different Borrelia subspecies.
Practitioners may consider this test when clients report ongoing fatigue, musculoskeletal discomfort, cognitive changes or skin reactions in the context of possible tick exposure. The test may also be used alongside cellular immune assessments, such as EliSpot, when practitioners wish to explore both humoral and cellular responses.
Results are generally reviewed together with symptom history, outdoor exposure patterns, lifestyle factors and other laboratory markers. This combined perspective helps practitioners understand how antibody patterns may relate to wider immune activity and overall comfort for clients.
