Hepatic Detox Profile (D-glucaric & Mercapturic Acids)

$ 239.00

The Hepatic Detox Profile (D-glucaric & Mercapturic Acids) measures urinary markers associated with liver detoxification activity from a first morning void urine sample.

Size

  • Environmental exposure: suspected exposure to chemicals, solvents or pollutants.
  • Chemical sensitivity: symptoms associated with sensitivity to environmental agents.
  • Fatigue: persistent tiredness without a clear cause.
  • Headaches: recurrent headaches with possible environmental associations.
  • Neurological symptoms: brain fog, dizziness or concentration difficulties.
  • Medication burden: assessment alongside long-term or multiple medication use.
  • Liver-related concerns: evaluation in the context of liver function or detoxification capacity.
  • Occupational exposure: work-related contact with chemicals or industrial substances.

Overview

The Hepatic Detox Profile (D-glucaric & Mercapturic Acids) measures two urinary biomarkers using a first morning void urine sample: D-glucaric acid and mercapturic acids. Results are normalised to creatinine to account for urine concentration and are interpreted against age- and sex-specific reference ranges.

D-glucaric acid is commonly used as an indirect marker of phase I hepatic enzyme activity, particularly cytochrome P450 induction associated with exposure to a wide range of xenobiotics. Mercapturic acids represent end-products of phase II conjugation pathways involving glutathione and cysteine, providing context related to the body’s capacity to conjugate and excrete metabolised compounds.

Clinically, this profile may be useful when exploring symptoms or histories suggestive of chemical exposure or altered detoxification activity. Practitioners typically interpret results alongside environmental exposure history, diet, medication use and other laboratory findings. When reviewed in context, the test can support informed discussions with clients about hepatic detoxification patterns.
